Episode 5 - Swift Boats for Jesus
Gary Phillips has published several mystery novels and numerous short stories. Los Angeles Noir, last year’s collection of edgy tales that included Phillips’ story “Roger Crumbler Considered His Shave,” was an L.A. Times and Southern California Independent Booksellers Association bestseller.
He is editor of Politics Noir: Dark Tales from the Corridors of Power anthology from Verso and co-editor, with Chris Chambers, of the collection, Darker Mask: Heroes from the Shadows from Tor.
He has written a coming of age graphic novel set in the 1980s entitled South Central Rhapsody under an arts grant from the Irvine Foundation, has a crime graphic novel for DC/Vertigo Comics coming out called Cowboys, and writes a weekly political serial on http://thenation.com website, Citizen Kang.
