Ok. I have to ask it: what are some of your favorites so far? I've seen a lot of love here for "Cut Man" by Christa Faust. What else is moving people?

AND: What else would you like to see on the CrimeWAV?

Best story

Ride a Red Dragon was the best IMHO

Must Bite started off great, but felt rushed at the end... and I could have done with a little less monkey sex

and I forgot

I'd have to say I also enjoyed Last Bachelor of North Miami and Prisoner of Love

Killing O'Malley was good, and you know I'm a sucker for stories tied into sports

Best Story

I loved Adrenline. I know that some people didn't like the torture scenes, but I think that went a lot toward building the main character and his attitude toward the crime.

Killing O'Malley

I like most of the stories a lot, but Killing O'Malley is my favorite so far.  I was enjoying the story -- really could feel and hear and smell the place -- but getting more and more frustrated over the racist comments the asshole was making.  I got completely suckered in, getting madder and madder and thinking, "Why don't you say or do something to that SOB?" while that was exactly what was going to happen.  It's a keeper.

Eddie Muller's story was so in-the-moment great. Tremendous narrative and fantastic ending. Can't wait to read more of Eddie's stuff.

Crossing the Border

I thought that in terms of readability, Crossing the Border did it for me.
A hint of the often bleak lyrical style of Ray Bradbury injected into the modern crime genre. Well done Mr. Dodds

My favorite Story?

Cornelia Read's "Hungry Enough".  Absolutely. Read is such a lyrical writer, she makes me ache. Perfect  plot, characters, scene, dialogue. A fine example of her "WASP noir" genre. Reading her is a pleasure I don't even feel I deserve.
